Federal Heights

The full renovation and furnishing of the 3,300-square-foot Colonial-style home was guided by a deep collaboration with homeowner, a master gardener and artist. This project was approached as an evolving puzzle, layering in custom, vintage, and commissioned pieces to balance formality, comfort, and family life while honoring the home’s 1930s details. Inspired by the client’s connection to the Utah desert, we studied the landscape of Capitol Reef National Park, translating its palette of reds, sage greens, and deep blues into the home’s materiality, paint, and bespoke furnishings. The design is richly narrative, with each room featuring one-of-a-kind works from independent makers and artisans, as well as contributions from our furniture and lighting collection. Vintage finds, from Christophe Gevers sconces to French Art Deco lighting, are paired with custom silk wallcoverings, mohair-upholstered seating, and heirloom-worthy pieces designed to age gracefully with the young family. Throughout, the project reflects a shared ethos of intentionality, storytelling, and authenticity. Rather than imposing a singular aesthetic, we drew from the client’s values as a gardener and artist —layering, adapting, and allowing the home to unfold organically. The result is a residence that balances refinement and play, history and experimentation, and above all, the lived realities of a growing family.
